Cat Rapp adds more Gainbridge Super League experience to roster before 2026 home opener
Sporting Club Jacksonville announced today the signing of midfielder Cat Rapp, pending league and federation approval.
Rapp, 22, most recently played for Spokane Zephyr FC in the 2025/26 Gainbridge Super League season. She started in six of nine appearances, scoring two goals in 533 minutes of action. This included two fixtures against Sporting JAX: making her professional debut in a February meeting at Hodges Stadium and later in an April matchup in Spokane.
“Having played against this team, I was able to see firsthand all that Sporting JAX is building,” said Rapp. “I’m excited to join the squad and contribute as we look to build on last season’s success.”
Rapp grew up in Colorado before coming to the east coast to begin her collegiate career. During her first month playing at Florida International University, Rapp scored two goals in a win over Stetson University. As a Panther, she was also named to the All-Conference USA second team in her junior year.
Following her time in South Florida, Rapp transferred to the University of Kentucky. In 21 appearances in 2025, she was tied for most goals on the team, finding the back of the net seven times while also recording six assists. She joins defender Grace Phillpotts as another Wildcats alumna on the Sporting JAX roster.
Prior to Spokane, Rapp spent a significant amount of time in the USL ecosystem. Between collegiate seasons, the midfielder played for USL W League power Minnesota Aurora FC.
“Cat gained some experience in the league last season with Spokane,” said Sporting JAX Head Coach Stacey Balaam. “She has a good soccer brain, she is technically sharp and will offer a different style and profile to our front line. Cat understands what competing at this level looks like and can hopefully make an immediate impression.”
Sporting JAX opened its 2026 Gainbridge Super League fall season with a win over Fort Lauderdale United FC last weekend, and will look to build on this momentum Saturday, August 22 in the team’s home opener against Tampa Bay Sun FC. Kickoff takes place at 7 p.m. at Hodges Stadium.
