Sporting JAX stars combine for 10 goals in unbeaten October

Sporting Club Jacksonville today announced that midfielder Ashlyn Puerta has been named October’s Gainbridge Super League Player of the Month, with forwards Baylee DeSmit and Paige Kenton being named to the Team of the Month.

Puerta set the league ablaze last month, scoring seven goals in three matches. This included an unforgettable four-goal performance on October 16 against Fort Lauderdale United FC, in which she broke the Gainbridge Super League record for most goals by a player in a match. Puerta also helped Sporting JAX complete a point-earning comeback against Brooklyn FC on October 31 with a second-half brace.

DeSmit and Kenton were also key contributors for Sporting JAX in October. DeSmit logged a goal and an assist, with Kenton adding two goals and an assist.

“These ladies have been incredibly productive for us this season,” Sporting JAX Head Coach Stacey Balaam said. “When players consistently perform at the highest level week after week, they set themselves apart and put themselves in a different category. They fully deserve the recognition for their outstanding performances, but they’ll also be the first to acknowledge the teammates around them who are working just as hard and contributing to the team’s success. Success is always a collective effort!”

Entering the final month of the regular season, these three players have scored more combined goals (19) than any other team in the Gainbridge Super League. Puerta and DeSmit lead the Golden Boot race, both sitting atop the league with eight goals scored this season.
