“I’m IN” soccer series removes barriers to high-level training for Northeast Florida middle and high school students
Sporting JAX and its charitable arm, the Sporting JAX Foundation, are changing the game for young athletes in Northeast Florida. Launching its third “I’m IN” Soccer Series, the foundation is offering free, high-level soccer training for students who dream of making their middle school or high school team but lack access to club programs, private coaching or traditional training opportunities.
Kicking off June 21, the free weekly clinics will be held every Saturday morning through July 26 from 10-11:30 a.m. at KIPP Bold City High School Stadium. The program is offered to rising 6th-12th grade students, regardless of skill level or experience.
“These sessions aren’t just building soccer skills, we’re building futures,” said Tony Allegretti, Foundation Director and series organizer for Sporting JAX. “Our goal is to ensure every student, regardless of background or resources, get a real shot at making their school team and experience the confidence, structure and camaraderie of being a part of a team.”
Led by experienced soccer instructors, including former UNF and JU head soccer coach Mike Johnson, each clinic will focus on fundamentals, teamwork and game-day readiness in a structured, supportive environment. This initiative is a part of the Sporting JAX Foundation’s broader mission to build pathways for youth success on and off the field.
“To play at a high level of soccer, you need as many touches on the ball as possible,” said Mike Johnson, clinic director of the Sporting JAX Foundation. “But access to clubs, coaches and fully-equipped fields can be limited by cost, location and opportunity. With our amazing partners at KIPP, we’re breaking down those barriers and bringing the beautiful game to the students who need it most.”
Each clinic is free, and no prior experience is required to participate. To register, visit www.sportingjax.com/Foundation. For more information on Sporting JAX and the club’s community impact, visit www.sportingjax.com or follow @Sporting_JAX across all social media platforms.
